Why HJÄRTA?
Many technical assets such as gates, doors, closures, dampers and windows already contain all the information operators need – it is simply not digitally available.
Is the gate closed?
Has a smoke-control door been wedged open?
Is the conveyor system operating correctly?
Is the conveyor belt blocked?
Is the cold chain within its defined limits in the food or pharmaceutical sector?
Are the cold rooms in a supermarket maintaining the correct temperature?
Has someone opened the medicine cabinet?
How often has the emergency exit been used?
When is the next maintenance due?
VulcanGuard's answer to these questions is called HJÄRTA.
HJÄRTA is a smart IoT system that makes sensor information visible. We listened to customers. Their request was clear: not another cloud. Not another app. They wanted a system that works where information is created – directly at the asset.
This is why HJÄRTA and VAKTEN were developed: an intelligent IoT solution that makes existing technical states visible in a way everyone can understand. HJÄRTA captures technical information where it originates. VAKTEN turns it into clear, understandable states.
HJÄRTA sees. VAKTEN understands.

True retrofit
Continue using existing sensors and connect them to HJÄRTA via M12. VAKTEN – the evaluation software – handles the rest.
The VulcanGuard shop provides suitable sensors and accessories, including reed contacts, light barriers, proximity switches, temperature probes and pre-assembled M12 cables.
Existing potential-free contacts can also be connected in the Professional section. HJÄRTA adds digital visibility to existing assets without changing their safety functions.
Industry may be complex. Operation should not be.
It is this simple
- Install the sensor.
- Connect the M12 cable.
- Select and define the source in VAKTEN.
No programming. No training. Multilingual and intuitive. Connecting a sensor is as simple as connecting a mouse to a computer.
Connect the sensor. Define the source. Done.

Hardware and software
HJÄRTA captures electrical states. In VAKTEN, you define their real-world meaning. A received signal can therefore become “fire protection gate open”, “conveyor system blocked” or “cold-room temperature outside the defined range”.
You decide how a signal is interpreted and at which value action is required. On request, VAKTEN can notify responsible personnel when a state deviates from its defined target.
Offline protection
If HJÄRTA becomes unavailable due to a power or network failure, VAKTEN detects this automatically and can inform responsible personnel. Every minute matters when monitoring cold chains, medicine cabinets, logistics processes or critical infrastructure.

Professional
In addition to five Easy-Access ports, HJÄRTA S1 Professional features a separate connection area for qualified personnel. It provides ten galvanically isolated digital channels capable of evaluating both potential-free contacts and compatible 24 V DC signals.
A documented and accessible potential-free relay contact or a compatible 24 V DC signal is required. HJÄRTA does not interfere with the safety function of the connected system.
Channel allocation is determined entirely by the connected asset. HJÄRTA does not impose a fixed structure – you define which information each channel represents.
Typical use of the ten Professional channels
- up to ten hold-open systems with one status contact each,
- up to five hold-open systems with two separate messages each, such as alarm and fault,
- ten individual signalling points for doors, gates, light barriers, machines or fault messages,
- or any freely combined application with up to ten independent binary items of information.
Technical requirements
- potential-free relay contacts or compatible 24 V DC signals,
- galvanically isolated inputs,
- no interference with safety functions,
- no modification of existing control systems.
HJÄRTA exclusively captures states and makes them available to VAKTEN.

Applications
HJÄRTA is suitable for hospitals, pharmacies, medical practices, medicine cabinets, cold rooms, cold chains, conveyor systems, logistics, industrial facilities, energy supply, municipal organisations and operators of critical infrastructure.

Simple. Real. Retrofit.
Digitalisation does not mean replacing equipment that still works. In our view, sustainability begins where existing assets can continue to be used.
Decades of industry experience showed us that there are very few practical solutions for this task. That is precisely why HJÄRTA was developed: existing assets remain in place. Compatible sensors can continue to be used and evaluated. Your equipment stays – it simply gains digital monitoring.
Safety functions are neither impaired, replaced nor modified.
Only one thing is new: you know what is happening at any time. HJÄRTA sees. VAKTEN understands.
